Franck Imports Ltd.

Manufacturer

1977 - 1997

Franck Imports Ltd. was a Montreal-based manufacturer and importer of womenswear, founded in 1977 by husband and wife team Annie and Armand Coriat.

The company imported French brands such as Anne-Marie Beretta in addition to producing its own in-house collections, Anne Sophie and Phillipe Ronsard, designed by Annie Coriat.

Franck Imports initially began fabric sourcing and production in Italy, but within several years moved all its manufacturing operations to Hong Kong.

Jean-Claude Poitras worked for Franck Imports between 1983 and 1988 after Leo Chevalier introduced him to the Coriats. He designed for the company’s Ronsard Sport brand and signed licence agreements with the Coriats to manufacture his women’s collections.

The company’s brands, including the Poitras collections, were sold at Holt Renfrew, Simpsons and smaller upscale boutiques. Franck Imports went out of business in 1997.
