DesignerBrand

Since 2011

UNTTLD is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand offering both professional and evening wear. The collections’ signature pieces often feature spectacular silhouettes created by exaggerated volumes or the use of materials like lace, Mongolian sheep fur, metal chains or feathers. Black is the dominant colour each season. The collections are all designed and produced in Montreal in the UNTTLD studio located in the Arsenal Contemporary Art Gallery. The clothing is sold on the brand’s Website, at Simons department stores, and in 20 or so independent stores across Canada.

The two designers behind the UNTTLD label are partners in business and life. José Manuel St-Jacques is a graduate of the Cégep Marie-Victorin Fashion Design program and has a bachelor’s degree in Fibres and Material Practices from Concordia University. Simon Bélanger studied fashion design at Lasalle College and did his master’s degree at the Domus Academy of Milan, in Italy.

After working in the fashion industry, notably with Marie Saint Pierre and Denis Gagnon, the duo came to public attention in 2010 following its appearance on the second season of the reality show, La Collection, broadcast on TVA. José Manuel St-Jacques won first prize in this fashion design competition, which included a purse of $100,000. This money enabled him to launch UNTTLD the following year with Simon Bélanger.
