La petite ferme du mouton noir

Retailer

Since 1990

In 1990, Chantal Laferrière, who graduated from fashion design in 1985, creates her own line of children’s apparel, Le Mouton Noir à Montréal and decides to create a collection that sets itself apart from existing products. One year later, she opens her store on Beaubien street, La Petite Ferme Du Mouton Noir, still established there. As of today, she also offers her products on her online store.

Her mission has stayed the same for 25 years. With passion, she makes comfortable, colourful and easy-to-wear garments, along with ingenious accessories that foster children’s autonomy to play, move, jump and dance.

Her collection, aimed at children 10 and under, is entirely designed in Québec and sets itself apart by the quality of its tailoring, its attention to details and its creativity.

The fabrics are selected for their comfort and their quality. Some of the textiles, such as fleece and cotton jerseys are still manufactured in Québec. The store also offers garments made from ultra soft bamboo fabrics or organic cotton, in a large selection of colours, as well as a range of products and accessories that complements its own collection.

The company innovates with fabrics featuring technological proprieties that are adapted to children, and notably to babies, with evolutive cuts that follow their growth. For example, the evolutive soft shell jacket collection, with its supple and comfortable fabric, adapted to mid-season temperatures and the outdoors. It is a windproof jacket, treated with a durable water-repellent. It is also waterproof and isolated thanks to the inner microfiber membrane.

Since 2015, the store’s bestseller remains the evolutive pants, with its harem cut, which adapt itself to the child’s morphology throughout his growth.

Comfortable and durable, it can be lengthened by gradually unrolling the knitted waistband. Thanks to the success achieved by this product, the designers has also been offering an evolutive skirt for girls.

Customers have stayed faithful to the brand ever since its creation, yesterday’s parents became today’s grandparents and keep on outfitting their grandchildren with Le Mouton Noir’s apparel.
