Sports Experts is a chain of franchises specialized in team and individual sports equipment and clothing. It sells all the major international brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour and Reebok.
The company was founded in 1967 by eight independent businessmen who wanted to increase the purchasing power of their respective stores. The chain expanded quickly in Quebec and included some 30 stores by the year 1970.
Sports Experts has changed hands several times. It was purchased by Provigo in 1981 and by the Forzani Group Ltd. (FGL) in 1994. FGL was then acquired by the Canadian Tire Corporation in 2011.
As of 2018, Sports Experts sells its products in over 100 franchise locations across Canada and on its Website. This Website is shared with the Atmosphere banner, which specializes in outdoor equipment.
