Raphaëlle Langevin (Matsheshu Créations)

Designer, mother and entrepreneur Raphaelle Langevin hails from Mashteuiatsh, Quebec. Through her brand Matsheshu Créations, she aims to celebrate and give back to her Pekuakamiulnuatsh community. Founded in 2020, Matsheshu Créations draws its name from the Nehlueun word for “fox,” with a fox motif serving as the brand logo.

Working with a “passion for design and a deep sense of community,” Langevin creates her designs and then collaborates with Indigenous artisans to realize her garments, accessories and jewellery that combine tradition with innovation. In addition, she designs her own printed fabrics with motifs inspired by Ilnu cultural belongings, traditional patterns, and the natural world, which are used for the brand’s signature ribbon skirts.

Matsheshu Créations embodies the values of pride, authenticity and creativity.

Through its blog, the brand offers insight into how its collections and prints are developed, along with highlighting the craftswomen who collaborate with Langevin. In 2024, Langevin opened her first boutique in Mashteuiatsh.

Along with She Holds the Sky Designs, MINI TIPI, Mikuniss Collection, Bastien Industries, Atikuss and Jolène Robichaud Fashion Designs, Matsheshu Créations is a member of the Indigenous Collective, formed by Bastien’s CEO Jason Picard-Binet to promote Indigenous artists and designers and address issues of cultural appropriation, representation and respectful collaboration. This collective of seven Quebec-based fashion brands presented a fashion show and conference during the 2024 edition of Montreal Fashion Week, and a fashion show at the McCord Stewart Museum during the 2025 edition.

Langevin has participated in Montreal’s Festival Mode et Design, the 2024 Kahnawake Fashion Exhibition, and sells regularly at powwows and market fairs.

She has won numerous awards for Matsheshu Créations: in 2024, the Logistik Indigenous-Owned Business Distinction Award at the mmode Gala, and in 2025, the Extraordinary Female Entrepreneur Award given by the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).

Matsheshu Créations jewellery is sold at both the McCord Stewart Museum and the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
