Matt & Nat

Brand

Since 1995

Matt & Nat is an accessories and footwear brand known for its exclusive use of vegan leather and fabrics made of recycled plastic bottles. Its name stands for “Mat(t)erial and Nature.”

The company was founded in 1995 when graduating university student Inder Bedi decided to follow through on a business plan he had created for a mandatory course. He was inspired by minimalist Japanese design and architecture to create purses with sleek lines.

Matt & Nat established its head office on Montreal’s Chabanel Street. Though its products used to be assembled in Canada, they have been manufactured in Asia since the mid-2000s. They are then sold through a network of stores and multi-brand retailers around the world.
