Marcel Martel was one of the founding members of the Association of Canadian Couturiers, which was created in 1954. Established in Montreal since at least 1937, he took part in several of the Association’s first activities. For example, he was present at the Pierre Hotel fashion show in New York City in December 1954. When the Association was founded, he already had some 20 years of experience designing suits and coats.
