A founding member of the Association of Canadian Couturiers created in 1954, Jacques Michel took part in the fashion shows held that year at Montreal’s Ritz-Carlton hotel and the Pierre Hotel in New York City. He continued to present his creations at all of the Association’s fashion shows for several years. Although not trained as a couturier, he was nonetheless known for his impeccable taste and high-quality clothing, produced by the skilfully organized work of his seamstresses. Specialized in wedding gowns, he dressed, among others, model Élaine Bédard.
