Fondation de la mode de Montréal

The mission of the Fondation de la mode de Montréal is to support education and research in the field of fashion.

Every year, the organization awards scholarships to encourage young designers to continue their studies in Canada or abroad. It also funds academic and industry-based research projects to develop educational tools and technology. Finally, the Fondation supports various initiatives, like teacher exchange programs, guest speakers and participation in international conferences and meetings.

Scholarships are awarded at the Fondation’s annual gala, which serves as a fundraising event. This evening benefit, which attracts hundreds of people, also spotlights the work of a guest of honour whose career has contributed to the development of the industry. Graduates of LaSalle College’s International School of Fashion, Arts and Design present their creations during a fashion show.

The Fondation de la mode de Montréal was created in 1989 by the president of the LaSalle College Group, Jacques A. Lefebvre. He was president of the Fondation until 2008, when he was succeeded by Pierre Bovet, president of the Bovet menswear chain, who held the position until 2013. Jacques Marchand, Director General of LaSalle College, then took over as president.

In 2019, the Fondation announced its intention to suspend its activities for an indefinite period.
