Naked & Famous Denim

Brand

Since 2008

Founded in 2008 by Brandon Svarc, Naked & Famous Denim is a Montreal brand known for its high-end men’s and women’s jeans. Operating without advertising and celebrity endorsements, the company has built its reputation by focussing on product quality. None of the pants are pre-washed or pre-distressed before being sold.

The company sources all its raw denim from Japanese factories that weave selvedge denim on old-style shuttle looms.

The dyeing process involves dipping bundles of cotton yarn into successive baths of indigo dye. This means the denim slowly loses layers of dye with washing and wearing, creating jeans that fade in a pattern unique to the wearer. Naked & Famous Denim recommends washing their jeans as infrequently as possible.

Brandon Svarc describes himself as a “denim nerd” and enjoys working with his suppliers to develop fun fabrics like glow-in-the-dark or raspberry-scented denim. In addition to its collections of pants, the brand makes cotton jackets, shirts and t-shirts and leather accessories. All products are manufactured in Canada.

The head office of Naked & Famous Denim is on St. Lawrence Boulevard, near Chabanel Street.
