Cégep Marie-Victorin – Fashion School

Cégep Marie-Victorin (CMV) is the only public college in Quebec to offer programs in fashion. They are part of the CMV school of fashion (École de mode), which is located in the Gaby-Bernier Pavilion. The school offers two different options for its diploma of collegial studies (DEC): fashion design, available since 1972, and fashion marketing, offered since 1993. In 1999, the school also began offering a one-year program in fashion production to professionals already working in the industry.

As of the 2018–2019 school year, 3,850 students attended Cégep Marie-Victorin, of which 583 were registered for one of the three fashion programs.

Located in the northeastern part of the island of Montreal, CMV was founded in 1965. Originally a private college, it became a public CÉGEP in 1993. That same year, the “fashion arts” program was renamed “fashion design.” Since 1995, students in this profile can opt for a specialization in fur design.

In 2011, the CMV school of fashion founded a college centre for technology transfer (CCTT) in fashion called Vestechpro. A non-profit organization, Vestechpro conducts applied research and offers consulting services and technical support to businesses as well as public organizations. The Centre also organizes a summer school in fashion and technology as well as various conferences with themes like smart clothing, connected textiles and innovative production methods.
