École atelier de textile et reliure de Québec

Founded in 1985, the École atelier de textile et reliure de Québec was an institution that provided training, production facilities and promotional support in the applied arts and crafts sector. In 1989, it helped establish the Cégep Limoilou technical program in applied arts and crafts, textile construction, .

Initially independent, in 1997 the École atelier de textile et reliure de Québec joined forces with two other schools, one specialized in ceramics and the other in sculpture. Together, they moved into the Garneau building in Quebec City’s St. Roch district, which had been renovated to accommodate their respective studios and classrooms. In 2001, the three institutions officially merged under the name Maison des métiers d’art du Québec (MMAQ).

As of 2019, the MMAQ continued to welcome students from Cégep Limoilou in addition to professional artisans wishing to upgrade their skills. Its mandate also includes promoting expertise in the applied arts and crafts sector locally and internationally.
